Umbria & the Amalfi Coast
Visit the Basilica di San Francesco d'Assisi, while staying just outside in Castello di Petrata, www.castellopetrata.com. Wine and olive oil tasting at Tili winery, a certified organic vineyard, www.tilivini.com. Visit the hillside villages of Umbria. Then onwards to the Amalfi Coast where we stay in the Imperial Hotel Tramontano, www.hoteltramontano.com, with visits to Ravello, Capri, and beyond.
Florence, Tuscany, & Cinque Terre
We stay in Torre Guelfa, www.hoteltorreguelfa.com in the heart of Florence, but from there we venture off the well-beaten tourist path visiting art studios in Oltrano and celebrities and a private tour of a certain rock star’s villas in the Tuscan countryside. Days are packed with art and guided tours. Lunch and dinner in Florence’s best wine bars and restaurants, and let’s not forget some visits to the best gelateria. Onwards to Cinque Terre for two days of hiking between towns.
Lake Garda, Orvieto, & Rome
While we’ll take in plenty of sites, this trip is geared toured wine tasting, specifically some of the superstars of the Natural Wine movement (even if they object to the label, for this is simply wine made as it has always been made—old-fashioned methods, if you will—and wine expressive of a place.) Overnight at Pratello Winery, with dinner and wine tasting. www.Pratello.com. Visits to La Stoppa and Elena Pantalioni and Giulio Viglione.
Wine Tasting in Sicily
Arriana Occhipinti, Ciro Bondi, I Custodi delle Vigne dell'Etna, I Vigneri Salvo Foti, Frank Cornelissen, Calabretta, Tasca d’Almerita.
Sardinia & Corisca
Island hoping in Italy and France
We limit the size of all of our tours so that we may take travelers off the beaten tourist track.
Our goal is to take our clients into the homes of our European friends so that they may see a slice of life in any given country.
